CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FOUNDER, MAUDLYN AKOSUA AWUKU, ON RECEIVING THE YOUNG ACHIEVERS AWARD AT THE UK PARLIAMENT!
Maudlyn Akosua Awuku, a staunch advocate for empowering women and youth and the CEO and Founder of Anijie Global Foundation, has been honoured with the prestigious Young Achievers Award at the House of Commons in the UK Parliament. She was chosen as one of the 20 outstanding young people in the UK for their dedication to community development. The event was hosted by Dean Russel MP and organised by the Universal Peace Federation, a UN-affiliated organisation. The gathering was attended by parliamentarians, ambassadors, policymakers, stakeholders, and youth leaders.
Under Ms Awuku’s leadership, Anijie Global Foundation has launched sustainable projects to help youth achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The organisation has focused on Gender Equality, Climate Action, and Quality Education, benefiting over 6,000 beneficiaries, including women and children, across regions in Ghana. The foundation has supported young women by providing over 1,000 sanitary pads and technical and vocational skills training. Additionally, they have provided exercise books to over 40 schools in marginalised communities, promoting inclusive lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Ms Awuku is also the founder of the GEWE (Gender Equality and Women Empowerment) Global Network in the UK. The community-based company promotes gender equality and empowers young women in political and civic decision-making leadership roles. Her work is especially focused on women from BME backgrounds fighting for intersectional gender equality in the UK. Her organisation has been awarded a £10,000 grant to support her work.
Ms Awuku has served on boards and as a delegate of UN Women UK to the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN headquarters in New York. She has spoken at numerous international events, including panels, meetings, and conferences advocating for women and youth. Her hard work and dedication have earned her many accolades, and her ultimate goal is to inspire women and young people to pursue their passions and achieve positions of influence.
Ms Awuku’s achievements are an inspiration to us all. Her commitment to empowerment, leadership, and inclusion undoubtedly positively impacted the lives of many.
